I am Alvaro Villanueva Calderón, an Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases Specialist in Barranquilla, trained in Internal Medicine at Universidad del Rosario and further specialized in Infectious Diseases and Public Health at Harvard University. My professional career has been dedicated to providing accurate diagnosis, advanced treatment and comprehensive follow-up for infectious diseases, always combining science-based medicine with a compassionate approach.

I bring extensive clinical experience and deliver high-quality care with empathy and professionalism. I am a member of the Colombian Association of Infectious Diseases and the American Society of Microbiology (USA). I offer in-person and virtual consultations from Clínica Portoazul in Barranquilla, providing expert care for complex infectious conditions.

I have served as Dean of the School of Medicine at Universidad Libre and as Secretary of Health of the Atlántico Department. I am also a university professor at several medical schools including Universidad Libre, Universidad del Norte, Universidad Metropolitana, Universidad San Martín and others. My clinical practice includes work as an Internist and Infectologist at Clínica Porto Azul, Hospital Universitario Cari, Clínica Asunción, Clínica General del Norte, Clínica Bautista, Clínica del Caribe, Clínica de la Costa, Hospital Metropolitano de Barranquilla, Hospital San Vicente de Medellín, and Hospital San Juan de Dios in Santa Marta.
