Dental radiology is a specialty of dentistry that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of dental and maxillofacial problems through the use of radiographic images. Dental radiology professionals, known as dental radiologists or dental radiologic technologists, use imaging techniques such as intraoral and extraoral x-rays, computed tomography (CT) scans, and panoramic x-rays to visualize dental structures, jaw bones, and soft tissues of the mouth and face.
