What Does a Dermatologist Do?

A dermatologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing, treating, and preventing conditions that affect the skin, hair, and nails. Dermatologists treat common concerns such as acne, skin discoloration, allergies, and hair loss, as well as more complex conditions including psoriasis, dermatitis, skin infections, and skin cancer.

Many dermatologists also offer cosmetic procedures designed to improve the appearance and overall health of the skin, including laser treatments, facial rejuvenation, and other advanced dermatologic procedures.

When Should I See a Dermatologist?

You should consider seeing a dermatologist if you experience any unusual changes or symptoms affecting your skin, hair, or nails, such as:

Nail disorders or abnormalities.

Regular dermatology visits can also help with preventive skin care, early detection of skin diseases, and personalized treatment recommendations.
