Colombian dentist wins Top 100 Doctors of the World award

Dr. Tarsys Loayza Roys was recognized as the best dentist in Colombia by the Global Summit Institute at the 2025 World Medical Gala. This prestigious organization awarded her the Top 100 Doctors of the World honor in the “Lifetime Achievement Award” category for her outstanding professional career.

This recognition marks another achievement in positioning Colombian women as promoters of innovation and excellence in the healthcare field. The renowned Caribbean dentist stated that she feels “honored before the world” and added that such moments make her feel Colombia in her heart.

Hard work always brings great rewards

The 2025 World Medical Gala took place on the paradisiacal island of Sardinia, located in the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Italy. This gathering of healthcare professionals was held as part of the 2025 International Congress organized by the Italian Dental Association (AIO).

The venue served as a meeting point not only for the world’s top doctors but also for the most prominent organizations in the healthcare sector. Among them was the Dental IA Association (DAIA), of which Dr. Tarsys Loayza Roys currently serves as National Ambassador for Colombia. The event was held from June 12 to 14 of this year.

One of the first events was the World Medical Gala itself, which provided the setting to honor the most outstanding physicians. The organizers chose to recognize professionals who stood out over the past year for their technological contributions and innovation in dental medical services.

Dr. Loayza Roys was honored “for exemplifying leadership, excellence, and entrepreneurial spirit in advancing the healthcare industry.” For Colombia’s top dentist, this international recognition means that Colombian medicine has been “elevated before the world.” She added that it proves hard work always brings great rewards.

A challenging journey from La Guajira to the world’s most important stages

Dr. Tarsys Loayza Roys was born in Riohacha and from a very young age dedicated most of her life to professional training. She completed her undergraduate, postgraduate, and master's studies in Dentistry at the prestigious University of Cartagena.

She complemented her education with fourth-level academic programs at prestigious higher education institutions in Colombia and abroad. Among them is CEU Cardenal Herrera University in Spain, where she earned a Master’s in Implantology and Oral Surgery. Her excellent profile as an alumna allowed her to work in both teaching and research at the same institution.

Approximately 20 years ago, she launched her most ambitious project: the opening of Sonrisa Perfecta Dental clinic. From the start, her goal was to innovate dental healthcare services by offering cutting-edge technology and the highest professional quality—always driven by a true passion for excellence.
