A neurologist is a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the nervous system, which include disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles. This specialist is responsible for diagnosing and treating diseases such as migraine, epilepsy, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, neuropathy, among others. Additionally, the neurologist performs neurological tests, such as electroencephalograms (EEG) and MRIs, to evaluate the function and structure of the nervous system. It is advisable to see a neurologist if symptoms such as persistent headache, seizures, muscle weakness, balance disturbances or changes in cognitive function occur.
