Facial peeling is a medical procedure that provides the skin with multiple benefits such as improving its texture, adjuvant in the treatment of spots, acne, etc. I share with you the key recommendations that I have learned in more than 11 years performing this procedure.
Recommendations before peeling:
- Do not have tanned skin.
- Perform facial hair removal up to 7 days before.
- Go without makeup.
- Clear all your doubts with your specialist.
- Signature of informed consent.
Post peeling recommendations:
First 48 hours:
- Do not expose yourself to heat/vapours/irritants of any kind.
- Avoid makeup.
- Do not go to contaminated places.
- Do not do activities that cause sweating (first 24 hours).
From day 0 to 7:
- No direct sun exposure or tanning beds/saunas/turks/thermal springs, etc.
- If peeling occurs, do not remove the peeling skin. Use a mild facial cleanser (do not use anti-acne cleansers).
- Be careful when consuming foods with sauces, citrus fruits, etc., that may splash or run on your face.
- Some patients must use the anti-inflammatory product or soothing moisturizing product every 12 hours for 3-5 days.
- Strict photoprotection: physical measures (shade, hat, etc.) and apply photoprotector daily every 2-3 hours.
- Do not apply anything that is not prescribed/recommended.
- Do not self-medicate.
- Resume or start nighttime formulas (depigmentants/retinoids, etc.) in 7 days or when the skin has already repaired.
- Some patients will have more specific recommendations for their case. Stay in contact with the doctor's office, give news about your post-procedure so that your specialist can follow up on your process.
