Do not use semi-permanent polish or acrylic nails before reading this! By Dr. Laura Habib

Due to the techniques and products used to make acrylic nails and semi-permanent nail polish, our nails are exposed to damage that can be transitory or permanent. Among these are nail fragility, breakage (onycholysis), color changes (chromonychia), infections (caused by fungi, viruses and bacteria) and even predisposition to skin cancer (due to radiation from UV lamps).

The first thing I advise you is to avoid the frequent use of both processes; Whenever you do a semi-permanent nail polish, use free finger gloves with UV filter and, of course, sunscreen.

If you feel that your nails are very fragile, I advise you to use strengtheners such as: Si-Nails (Isdin) or Durex nails (Pharmaderm), in addition, opt for hypoallergenic enamels, free of formaldehyde and toluene.

Unfortunately there are people who do not improve completely using only these products. If this is your case, you should go to a dermatological consultation to examine your nails and request tests that help diagnose and thoroughly solve your nail problem.

Now, let's get to know the options of national and international enamels with cosmetic formulas free of formaldehyde, toluene and other toxins; to keep our nails healthy.

The health of your nails is not something superficial. Please, if you notice alterations in its natural color or in its general appearance that remain over time, consult your trusted dermatologist.
