Although by tradition, from generation to generation we have the idea that we can repair hair with elements that we have at home. That is why we resort to homemade masks that promise wonderful effects for hair care, it is important that we know that we can threaten our health without having the slightest intention of doing so.
There are numerous causes of hair damage and types of alteration in the structure of the hair.
The capillary cycle, for its part, has several stages that are not altered just like that, by an external agent, especially without a clear therapeutic purpose.
The potential risks of applying food, plants and other products revolve around the following aspects:
- We do not know the cause of the hair problem.
- We use substances that are not designed to be properly absorbed through the scalp.
- We expose ourselves to frank changes in pH and other specific conditions that maintain the health and chemical and physical balance of the scalp. This predisposes to trigger or worsen inflammatory conditions in the scalp.
- We do not know the real chemical composition of the inputs used, running the risk of suffering from allergic or irritative dermatitis, poisoning, photosensitivity, seborrheic dermatitis; among others.
It is ideal that if we do not have any current discomfort in our hair health, we use commercial products from lines specialized in maintaining hair health such as Loreal, Klorane, Herbal essences, etc.
If we already have discomfort to some degree we should avoid spending money unnecessarily trying too many things and delaying an accurate diagnosis.
The signs that tell us that something is wrong with our hair health are flaking, lack of shine, dryness, itching, fragility, among others.
In this case, the ideal is to schedule a dermatological consultation for clinical and trichoscopic diagnosis (enhanced examination of the capillary structures). This way we can have first-hand an adequate treatment that can include protocol in the office and/or home treatment.
